Ease up on the shampooing! There’s no need to wash your hair every day, and doing so is likely to strip your hair of its natural oils and cause damage. A bit of natural oil in your hair helps your ponytail look sleek. If it seems a bit too oily, but you don’t have time for a wash, you can add hairspray or gel to really lean into the sleek look. Or, opt for a dry shampoo instead, in between washes. Just spray it in, brush it out, and you’ll get style with volume. Try to train your hair to go three or four days in between washes.
Vary your ponytail. There are so many ways to make a ponytail: high, low, side – there’s no wrong way to do it and nothing is easier when you’re in a hurry. If we take a cue from Hollywood, your ponytail can even be messy. The secret to a great messy bun or a messy pony is to let the hair fall out a bit on the sides. You can also accessorise your ponytail: clip a bit of bling or a flower next to the elastic you used to make the ponytail. Hair bands are big at the moment, too, thanks The Great Gatsby trend.
